A Complete Guide to Mykonos: Trendiest Stays and Things to Do

To get to Mykonos we took a ferry from Santorini. The ferry ride was 2 hours and 30 minutes and there are four different ferries you can take. You will depart on the ferry from the Athinios port in Santorini and will arrive at the New Port in Mykonos. From there, we took a taxi to our hostel. You can book your ferry tickets here and the tickets range from 30 to 70 Euros. I would suggest getting them in advance especially when traveling during peak season.

Best Time to Visit Mykonos

When you decide to travel all depends on the vibe you are going for. If you are looking for a party and bigger crowds, July and August will be great months to go. If you are looking to avoid the crowds and get discounted rates, September and October will be great times to travel to this enchanted island. The weather will still be warm enough in September and October to enjoy the beaches stretched along the Aegean Sea. When I went to Mykonos I went in June and it was a lot quieter than we thought it would be. It was still beautiful weather though and we were able to enjoy the outdoor beach bars, and beautiful seas, and catch all the sunrays.

Stay

We stayed at the Paraga Beach Hostel & Camping and I wouldn’t suggest this hostel at all. I want to give you my honest opinion so you don’t make the same mistake we did.  Even if you’re a young adult wanting to party, it wasn’t the best hostel. We met some great people and enjoyed the pool and beach area but the huts were 4-6 people with no air conditioning. We also slept on majorly uncomfortable cots. Imagine that with warm days full of drinking and partying, it was not a vibe. It also wasn’t close to anything so we had to either get a taxi or walk through a long hiking trail. The hiking trail at least led us to some beach clubs but felt quite unsafe at night. Paraga did provide a beach, pool, and restaurant/bar so you didn’t necessarily have to leave the hostel. It does have a lot of amazing reviews but I just did not enjoy my time, maybe it was just me

Trendiest Places to Stay

Hostels

I would suggest upgrading to the Mycocoon Hostel because it is close enough to walk to the Mykonos City Center. It is probably one of the trendiest hostels in Mykonos and its price reflects it. It may not be the cheaper place to stay but it definitely will be worthwhile with the chic room designs and comfy beds.

This incredible hostel gives a homey, almost Airbnb kind of feel to it. It is a small hostel but is well-kept. The hostel is about 10 minutes from Old Port and the Mykonos Windmills. It also has great views from the top of the terrace.

This is one of the best hostels I have seen and is more on the expensive side but still budget-friendly compared to other accommodations. The modern rooms with a hint of boho-chic allow for a beautiful atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a luxury hotel. The downstairs, smaller rooms have private patios while the larger suites on the top floors have terraces with a jacuzzi on them.

It is located in a prime location being walking distance from the beach, local shopping, and restaurants. It has a Mykonos antique charm to it with beautifully designed rooms and outdoor spaces. When I think of Mykonos, I think of this charming hotel. The budget double room will be your cheapest option while other parts of the hotel do get quite expensive. It isn’t Mykonos’ most budget-friendly hotel but it sure is a great price for its vibe.

This stylish hotel is located right on the beach specifically, Agios Ioannis Beach. It has a private pool and some of the best sunset views. It is a boutique-style hotel and is extremely beautiful. It also has a casual sushi bar located near the pool that, from reviews, sounds incredible.

The bar located at this hotel is also one of the most popular in Mykonos. The pool overlooks incredible rooftop-style views of the sea and the buildings in the distance.

Luxury Hotels

This hotel is one of the finest boutique hotels that Mykonos has and it is such a vibe. From the pictures, I can already tell the hotel provides incredible views and content potential. The classy sleek interior of the white-washed walls makes it fit in with Mykonos’ finest architecture. The hotel is located on a cliff and blends in with the natural rock. It provides beautifully designed rooms with private terraces, some even with a private pool. If you are going to splurge, here is the place to do so.

This hotel is a historic chic boutique hotel that offers an irreplaceable location that is unique from the rest. It is located with views of the famous Mykonos windmills. Its modern style and incredible dining options create an exquisite getaway experience and one that is worth the higher price tag.
