Best Three Wineries in Tuscany, Italy

Wine in Italy is to die for.

I think I can thank Italy for my love of wine because before I went I hated it. Tuscany is full of its pastoral landscape and reaching vineyards. You will most definitely fall in love with the charm Tuscany has. Tuscany is Italy’s most important wine region. It is world-renowned for having some of the best wines, vineyards, and grapes. Its indigenous grape is the Sangiovese grape that produces the infamous Chianti wine. The most famous wine of this region is the Super Tuscans. It is a locally made mix of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. It is incredible.

Here is my list of the best wineries in Tuscany. This list is based on personal preference and knowledge from experts that I had learned when studying abroad in Florence.

Antinori Winery

This winery is well known for being the best winery in the Chianti region. It was founded in 1385 and is still owned by the same family. They have Chianti, Super Tuscan wines, and are known for their Tignanello Super Tuscan wine. For those who are wondering, a Super Tuscan wine is a term to describe red wines in Tuscany that are also derived from grapes that aren’t local but are a mix of a few.

Being the best also means cost does go up. It is 240 Euro per person for a tour and it does include a three-course lunch. If this isn’t in your budget, I would honestly suggest just doing the tour. The tour is a must but as far as the lunch, it honestly wasn’t anything too fascinating. When I mean it wasn’t too fascinating I mean that the portions of the food were very small and I felt like I was trying to keep up with all the wine that was coming out. They gave us more wine than food but if that is what you are into, then this is your spot.

Podere Le Ripi

Besides Antinori being a famous winery, this winery was my favorite. There was a circular wine cellar that I thought was pretty neat. They also have amazing views of the Tuscan rolling hills. I think the reason I fell in love with this winery was that when we had lunch we had it in a glass room so we were still able to look out and see the beautiful view.

We had an amazing array of wine, including a dessert wine. We also have the best Bolognese ravioli. At the end of your lunch, you also have the opportunity to have coffee. This winery is more reasonable in pricing and is 50 euros per price. I also still enjoyed this winery a lot and didn’t think it should be credited any less than the Antinori Winery.

Casanova di Neri

In this winery, we saw their wines’ production, barrel aging, and bottling. The tour we got was of the Brunello vineyard. After the tour, we enjoyed wine tasting with various breads, oils, and cheeses. The cost for all of this was 100 euros per person.

For me, this is an excellent winery to go to because they had my favorite wine. For myself and the group of people I was with, we all agreed that we preferred this winery for the taste. I also really enjoyed the tasting room. It was so beautiful with the marble-style stone that decorated the countertops. The winery also did an amazing job at helping us buy some wines to go and getting them shipped if need be.

Cheers
