 7 Best Restaurants in Egypt

Starting with my favorite, Khufu’s. I think the interior of this restaurant is simply beautiful with everything elegantly crafted. The best part, though, is that it is located on the pyramid grounds, offering some of the best views of all three pyramids. We went during breakfast to enjoy the stunning scenery in the daytime, but they do offer all-day dining until 4 pm. We opted for the Egyptian breakfast, which was not only delicious but also more than enough food for two people. The combination of exquisite food and breathtaking views makes Khufu’s an unforgettable dining experience. Make a reservation in advance if you want to sit outside.

Now, my second favorite restaurant, which also offers views of the pyramids, is 139 Pavilion. Located at the Marriott Mena House, it is easily accessible if you’re staying at the hotel. The food was generally good, but I ordered the steak, which turned out to be a less-than-ideal choice—so learn from my mistake and perhaps opt for something else on the menu. We visited right before sunset, allowing us to witness the pyramids bathed in the beautiful hues of sunset and then illuminated at night. For the best experience, definitely sit outside to fully appreciate the breathtaking views.

Pier 88, located on the Nile River, offers a beautiful and unique dining experience with a different scenery than the previous restaurants. The food is Italian and truly delicious, with a menu that impresses. The ambiance is vibrant and trendy, making it a popular spot to visit. The cocktails were equally delightful, adding to the overall experience. We went at night to enjoy the city lights, but it would also be a great spot to visit at sunset. Situated in the Zamalek area, Pier 88 is in central Cairo and is part of a more upscale neighborhood, adding to its allure.

The Garden Promenade Café is a perfect lunch spot that almost makes you feel like you are dining at an extravagant castle. Located at the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino in the Zamalek area, the hotel’s grandeur adds to the café’s classy ambiance. The outdoor seating provides a beautiful setting, especially when the weather is nice. While the food was just okay, the ambiance and unique touches, like menus designed as newspapers, made the experience memorable. This café is an ideal way to spend a leisurely and elegant afternoon in Cairo.

The Grill was a delightful and convenient dining option, located right in our hotel (Intercontinental SemiRamas), making it easily accessible for us. The ambiance was sophisticated and inviting, setting the perfect tone for an upscale dining experience. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff ensuring that every detail was taken care of. We decided to order the tomahawk steak, which was expertly cut tableside, adding an impressive touch to our meal. The steak was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious, making it a highlight of our stay. Overall, The Grill offered a memorable dining experience that combined convenience, excellent service, and outstanding cuisine.
