There are two options on ways to arrive in Milan. You either will be arriving at Milan Centrale train station or you will be arriving by air at the Malpensa International Airport. If you arrive by train, Milan Centrale will be about 2 miles from any touristy spots you may want to see. The public transportation and metro system in Milan is very easy. If you are arriving by air, you can reach the Milan Centrale train station by taking a train from terminal 1. However, this route does take a little over an hour and definitely isn’t time-friendly if you only have a day.
It’s time to go shopping!.
Obviously, my itinerary is one to look at but there are also so many other preferred things to do or see in Milan. I would suggest though if you have only a day to really plan everything ahead of time.
If you plan your day ahead of time you can also plan your transportation route. I would suggest this because it will help make for a more seamless day.
It is most likely going to be a long day of exploring and nothing is worse than feeling uncomfortable all day. There are so many chich fashionable options that are also very comfortable.
This castle is located adjacent to the Brera district and is a great sight to quickly see and get some pictures of. The outer grounds are free to roam the gardens or enjoy the architecture. To visit the museum, however, there is an admission cost.
Next, the galleria is located adjacent to the duomo and is a sight you cannot miss. This is where you will want to spend some time if you are looking to do some high-end shopping. I sure love to just browse around, even if I can’t afford anything. The architecture of this building will be quite a treat as well. Now, you can head over to the duomo next to get some beautiful daytime views. I would suggest not staying long because I have it planned to enjoy it later on in the day.
There are plenty of pizza restaurants that are located in the Navigli district. This district is full of instagramable spots and beautiful views of the canals and colorful buildings. We had lunch at Rossopomodoro and it was delicious. Although, many other places looked delicious too and may catch your eye on your stroll.
I would suggest staying here because it is located in the heart of Milan’s lively district. It is perfect if you are one who likes late-night ambiances.
I suggest spending evening/night time here so you can see the duomo both in the day and at night. During the night when it lights up is absolutely stunning. There’s so much to do and see around the duomo too. Shopping and lots of eateries. If you are in Milan during the holiday season, there will also be Christmas markets (which are my new favorite things!)
This is where you can enjoy the views of the trendy bar and the duomo all in one. Plus you can order some of the best Aperol spritz remixes ever. It is a fun spot to enjoy and relax at.
I suggest sitting outside because you will have the best views of the duomo. It is more of a touristy place but I really enjoyed it because of the view and the food was very good. If you’re looking for a more “hole in the wall” dinner you should definitely go here: Trattoria Madonnina. You can also have lunch at the mozzarella bar if you are feeling seeing the duomo during the day
This is where you want to be if you are looking for good drinks or live music. I never experienced it myself but from my research … it looks like a time!!!
