Cancun Travel Guide
Cancún is always an incredible getaway filled with margaritas, poolside views, all-you-can-eat buffets, and lots of fun but only if you do it right. I love the natural beauty it showcases with the crystal blue waters and white sand beaches. I have been to Cancún a few times for very different reasons. Once I went to Cancun for spring break and went to Cancun for a getaway with my fiancé. Spring break in Cancún is epic but so is a relaxing trip just for you and your significant other. It depends on what vibe you are going for because Cancún sure does have it all.
Airport
Cancún is very easy to get to because duh, it is located about 20-30 minutes from the Cancun International Airport. I would suggest arranging transportation with your hotel. If they don’t have transportation, confirming a car service or taxi ahead of time is your best bet. When we went we did not do this and ended up spending a bit extra on the taxi.
STAY
I would highly highly suggest staying in an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. I would even suggest paying a little bit extra for a hotel that has a lot of entertainment with it as well. For me, I felt the most safe staying on the resort property, so finding a hotel that has everything you need is imperative. If you are a spring breaker reading this or looking for a good time, The Grand Oasis is for you. Even if you aren’t a springbreaker, this resort is going to be very appealing. The resort is huge and includes many different dining and entertainment options. They even have shows, beach parties, golf, and tennis courts. You definitely will not get bored here but, I am also unsure how much relaxing you will get done.
The number one top-rate resort in Cancun for couples and adults only is the Le Blanc Spa Resort. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to stay here but from the way it looks in pictures, it may just be next on my list. It has a modern feel and looks like a Miami-style property. It is a luxurious treat for couples who are ready to rest and relax. They have a plethora of fine dining experiences and conduct many activity tours. It truly looks like an adult oasis.
My Favorite Place I have Stayed in Cancun
My favorite place that I have stayed is the Hotel Riu Cancun. It is a little farther away from the strip of nightlife but I enjoyed that a lot better. It has everything you need from fine dining experiences to buffets and a concierge team to help you with whatever you need. Each room also comes with a bathtub that is open in the room and some even come with a jacuzzi on the balcony. We were fortunate enough to be able to upgrade our room to a suite for a fraction of the price. Honestly though, whatever the price it may be, I would highly suggest it because it was SO worth it. The hotel also has nighttime shows and daytime pool activities. The beach was also one of my favorites in Cancun, very secluded and it felt like you had your oasis.
Restaurants and Bars
Since you are staying at an all-inclusive my suggestion is to stay there to eat and drink. Most likely your hotel will have its restaurants and bars (this is why it is important to do your research and stay somewhere that provides it all). If you were to get out of the resort and adventure into the Cancun nightlife, I would most definitely suggest Señor Frogs. We had the best time there and felt very safe. Some of the crowd’s favorite clubs include Coco Bongo, Hroof, Chicabal Sunset Club, and the City Discotheque. Staying on the resort is the safest option but it is possible to go to the clubs and have a safe night out. Just beware of your surroundings and never drink anything after you put it down. Ok enough with the “mom” talk, just felt like I needed to say that. If you do go out, have fun because it sure is a ball there.
Activities
In the past when I have gone to Cancun, I don’t do too many activities off the resort because the resort comes with so many amenities. This past time though, My fiance and I went on a boat tour and we are so glad we did. I would suggest going to Get Your Guide ahead of time and reserving a tour in advance so they don’t fill up. We wanted to do the whale shark tour but it was full by the time we went to reserve it. I would suggest this tour out of anything, it looked awesome.
My Favorite Activity
Our tour consisted of a full-day catamaran cruise, open bar, snorkeling, buffet lunch, and exploring the Isla Mujeres. With this, I would also suggest upgrading to a more private tour. It will be less people and more intimate. Isla Mujeres was a beautiful island and an exquisite experience. We were able to enjoy a true Mexican buffet-style lunch with incredible views of the ocean. We also bought this incredible tequila that I think about even to this day. It was a great experience.
I Loved Cancun But My Suggestion
Cancun does have incredible beauty to it but if you are flying into the Cancun airport there are other places I would suggest to visit instead. Tulum is about a two-hour drive from CUN and is a tropical boho chic getaway. It has a lot of vibey restaurants, and bars, and is paradise. Check out my blog post on Tulum here. The only thing about Tulum is there aren’t many if any, all-inclusive. If all-inclusive is more your vibe I would even suggest, Playa Del Carmen. I have yet to go but have heard so many incredible stories, more than those of Cancun. You would still fly into the Cancun International Airport and it is in the middle of Cancun and Tulum. One last place, if I go back, I want to go is Riviera Maya. It is a town located in Cancun but it looks like a beautiful getaway. The hotel I have been keeping my eye on for my next trip is UNICO 20°N 87°W – Riviera Maya. I have never been so I can’t speak from experience but I have seen others who have loved it. Just a little suggestion!
