How to Spend a Day in Capri, Italy

Capri is something you cannot skip when traveling to southern Italy. This island is the epitome of Mediterranean charm. It is a perfect day trip from the Amalfi Coast or Naples. The magic of capri is endless. Wear you walking shoes because you will definitely be adventuring. Bring you camera too because the views are some of the best I have ever seen.
How to Get There
We took a ferry from Positano which is the quickest way to get to the island. It costs anywhere from 11-20 Euros and is a 30-minute boat ride. The ferry departs four times a day and is a direct route. For more information on the ferry, check it out here.

Capri is Magical

First

Visit the Blue Grotto

We did a boat tour that could cost anywhere around 100 euros. You can also walk or take a bus over to Anacapri. I definitely think the full experience with the boat tour is the best way to do it. From the boat, you are put onto a wooden boat where you wait your turn to go into the blue grotto. During the popular tourist season of summer, it will be very crowded. You do have to wait a while to go in and when you do go in it is only for a quick minute or so. So basically what I am getting at is some people think it is overrated. For me, I seriously still thought it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. A definitely must see at least once in your lifetime.  Seeing that blue water and that we were deep in a cave was something so magical. You can book your tours when you arrive in Capri, usually right whre you dock from the ferry.

Second

Tour Around and Get Lunch in Anacapri

Anacapri is a little village that is perched at the top of the entire island. It is where Capri’s magical charm comes alive. If this village doesn’t give you all the true southern Italy vibes, I truly don’t know what will. It was super easy to take a bus from Capri to Anacapri. The bus runs every 15 minutes and is only around 2 euro. The views too from the bus are so worth it. The best way to enjoy this cute little visit is by walking around and looking at all the different stores. Any of the restaurants in Anacapri will be local and yummy.

Third

Chair Lift to the top of mount solaro

The chair lift station is called Monte Salario and will be just in front of the ancient ruins gate. The reason this chair lift is so popular is that it brings you to the highest peak on the whole island, giving you the most tremendous views. It is also a very peaceful journey to the top of the mountain because each chair lift is a single person. I honestly found so much beauty with taking in the nature and beauty of Mother Nature while enjoying my own peace and quiet. You can hike either way if that is more your style. Admission is 11 euros and 7 euros for one way.

Fourth

Visit the Gardens of Augustus

These gardens are beautiful botanical gardens that are situated about 30 minutes outside of the Capri town. So this is definitely a more time permitting activity. One reason though to venture out here is that the views from the gardens are some of the best panoramic views of the sea.
